Item Name:
Cellular Dual Band Magnetic
Claimed Gain:
7 to 9 dBi depending on seller
Actual Gain:
Minus 3 AVG @ 850 band, Minus 3.5 AVG @ 1900 Band
Test Comments:
Performance at the horizon (where it is required) is far below advertised value. Large gain lobes are skyward at 30 to 45 degree elevations or downward at similar angles. An extremely poor performer for normal uses. Coaxial cable examined as 80% braid, very lossy at these frequencies. Due to cable loss, actual gain numbers are all reduced by another 2 dB.

Item Name:
Cellular Dual Band Magnetic
Claimed Gain:
4 and 7 dBi 800/1900 Mhz
Actual Gain:
4.4 and 7.5 dBi 800/1900 Mhz
Test Comments:
Claimed gain is lower (but close) than test results, strangely. Claimed gain is probably avg gain across each band. The data shown here is for mid band, peak gain. Very good performance for its size. Low loss cable. The best dual band gain ever tested in this lab. Gain numbers are feasible because it is a trilinear (dual coil) electrical design on 1900. On the 800 band its a 3dB whip with enhancement from the upper small coil.
